Fiver persons, including four students of Osmania Medical College, were killed at Gollapudi, Vijayawada late night on Monday. Twenty other medical students sustained injuries and the condition of another student is critical.

The bus belongs to Dhanujaya Travels; which is heading to Hyderabad from Amalapuram.

It started at Vijayawada at 11 PM. Around 11.30 PM the bus hit a tree beside the road and over turned. There were nearly 46 students in the bus at the time of accident. The students are saying that, Driver was under the influence of alcohol, lost control and rammed the vehicle into a tree and later on to a electric pole.

The accident has led to huge traffic jam on National Highway. Additional Commissioner of Police Mahesh Chandra Ladda is trying to bring the situation under control

Andhra Pradesh Government is keen on completing the flyover near Kanaka Durga Temple by Pushkarams. The contract company is bringing an advanced "Dredging Boat" from Goa. This will send reclamation pipelines and bring the sand out to the banks of the river. It will dig out 300 cubic meters pit in one hour. After that Iron Alignment will be placed in the pit and then concrete. In this whole process, they take care that water will not go into the pit.

Story of Yanamalakuduru

It is said that 1,000 ‘munis' performed ‘tapassu' on the hill which was called as ‘munigiri', and Parasuramudu gave protection for the ‘munis' during the ‘tapassu'. Later, Sri Prasuramudu installed the idol of Sri Ramalingeswara Swamy on the hill some 200 years ago.

According to history, Many ‘munis' used to have darshan of munigiri as 1,000 ‘munis' performed ‘tapassu'. That sacred place was named as ‘Veyi Munulakuduru', later the locals called the place ‘Yanamalakuduru'. Temple Executive Officer Dulipalla Subramanyam said the temple accommodates Sri Maha Ganapathi, Sri Subramanyeswara Swamy and Shiva Parivaram shrines on Munigiri.
