The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) will introduce smart parking facility and identified 29 areas in different parts of the city. The vehicle owners have to pay parking fee online every week, or every month and can park their vehicles at the specified parking lots maintained by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.

The new system will not only generate revenue to the civic body, but also resolve the traffic problem to some extent in busy commercial areas in the city. Commissioner G Veerapandian inspected some busy roads in the city and announced that the civic body identified 29 areas for smart parking in order to curb traffic snarls on busy roads. He said that people are parking their vehicles both sides of the main roads in the city and causing traffic problems.

He said smart parking will be monitored by Command Control Room set up at the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation office. He further stated that denizens have a chance to know about the smart parking areas through internet and smartphone application. "People can know about the real time on and off street parking details, parking fee, open places at parking areas, details of parking places etc.. People can pay through cashless system to prevent misuse of parking fees", he added.

He stated that the people should pay the parking fee online, through wallet, debit and credit cards. "The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation would provide daily, weekly and monthly passes to the people and people have a chance to park their vehicles at anywhere in the city with the one city card parking pass", he added.

He said that the entire parking system connected with the Command Control Room to know about the open places at different parking places and latter the officials would put the details in dashboard regarding the parking place and strength of vehicles at different parking places in the city. "Enforcement officials would take legal action and also impose fine on vehicles owners who would park their vehicles at no parking areas in the city through the CCTV cameras", he added. He said that smart parking system would help for traffic management, monitoring and also enhance the VMC income.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will visit Vatluru to lay foundation stone to Vem Aerocity, an aeronautic spare parts manufacturing unit at Pedda Cheruvu in Vatluru village of Pedapadu Mandal on March 11th. The Chief Minister will reach Vatluru directly by helicopter from Vijayawada and participate in the laying foundation ceremony. Later he will interact with 5,000 students. After that, he will leave for Vijayawada.

The Vem Aerocity is first of its kind in the Country as it deals with the multiple technologies under one roof to assemble and integrate the Weapon systems including Anti-Tank Guided Missiles, bombs, rockets, Aero Structures for Light Combat Aircraft and UAVs, Radar Systems and Systems for Helicopters and Aircraft, Artillery Fuse systems.

The industry will be set up at a cost of Rs. 2000 Crores in three phases, Vem Aerocity will have a skill development centre to part with the necessary technological inputs and various processes required for aerospace and defence industries and aim to train over 250-300 youth per year. The industry will likely to generate employment more than 2,000 people, it is expected.

The Vem Aerocity on the eve of its foundation laying ceremony at Peddacheruvu land in Vatluru village exhibited its range of products for Aerospace and defence applications. It has invited the engineering and science students to visit the photo exhibition to get broadened their knowledge base. This factory was proposed earlier at Nallajerla area. However, the farmers in Nallajerla area opposed the establishment of the factory, as they have to lose their lands. In an altered plan it was shifted to Vatluru in 350 acres of land.

Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation (AMRC) opened technical bids on wednesday which has been submitted for the construction of Eluru road corridor and Bandar road corridors. According to AMRC managing director N Ramakrishna Reddy. Afcons Infrastructures, Simplex Infrastructures and L&T companies submitted bids for the construction of metro rail corridors in Vijayawada city.

The AMRC on wednesday opened technical bids for technical evaluation of the bidders, Ramakrishna Reddy told that financial bids have to be opened and it would take one week to 10 days to finalise the bids.

The estimation cost of Eluru road corridor is Rs.801 crore and Rs.847 crore for Bandar road corridor. The Eluru road corridor will begin from Pandit Nehru Bus Station and end at Nidamanuru village. The Bandar road corridor will also begin from PN Bus Station and ends at Penamaluru village. Ramakrishna Reddy said that the tenders which were qualified as per technical norms would be considered for financial bids.

Representatives of the Norman Foster Company on Wednesday submitted designs for the Administrative City in the new capital to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The engineers' team from the Company met the Chief Minister at the interim Secretariat complex at Velagapudi.

They submitted three designs for the Administrative City which will come up in 900 acres. The three models have been handed Over to the Chief Minister. Out of these models, Chandrababu Naidu and other experts will finalise One model. Assembly building, High Court, CM's office, Raj Bhavan and buildings for Ministers would be constructed in the Administrative City. Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana and CRDA Commissioner Ch Sridhar were also present.
