The GMC officials introduced the budget for the financial year of 2016-17 of Monday with an outlay of Rs.1080 crore, of which Rs.853 crore was shown as expenditure. The GMC officials introduced the fifth consecutive budget of the Corporation, without the presence of elected representatives of the urban local body.
Commissioner S.Nagalakshmi explained that they would take steps to increase revenue from property tax. Plans have been drawn to generate revenue through parking places at commercial complexes and other areas also, she said. She explained that the corporation would spend Rs.77 crore on development and beautification of roads and the funds would be sanctioned by the state government. Of this, Rs.27 crore would be sanctioned for Pushkaralu and Rs.50 crore as SC and ST sub-plan fund.
