A student of Vignan's University and Vadlamudi in Guntur District had invented a contemporary pollution free duster and applied for its patent rights.
The student Tirumala Vasu, pursuing M.Tech in Vignan University designed and made the duster to avoid spread of light weight dust particles inside the classroom while erasing the blackboard. Explaining his design, Vasu said that the duster consists of cotton cloth wound around a roller, a cylindrical chamber with fine brushes covering 75 percent of the roller and the rest is kept outside the cylinder to collect the dust particles efficiently.
The chalk pieces used in classrooms are made from plaster of paris and calcium carbonate.
