A new water fountain at the junction at Police Control Room in Vijayawada, is attracting the people passing by. The Circle is now more attractive near, Pandit Nehru Bus Station.
The water fountain is lokkig more beautified by installing lights.
The state government is planning to develop a knowledge economy zone (KEZ) in Amaravati capital. The KEZ will help to improve economy of the state using knowledge.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu decided to develop the KEZ with the cooperation of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Harvard university and World economic forum.
The CM decided to complete the first phase of the project in ten acres by next year and complete the total project in hundred acres of land in capital region by 2019.
The state government is planning to link the knowledge for development of economy. It may be noted that the state achieved 10.99 growth rate and further planning to push up the growth rate using the services of KEZ. The govt will take the help of world economists and develop the centre as world economy hub. The government will provide necessary infrastructure for the KEZ.
The government is also planning to set up KEZs in all the districts in the state. Chief Minister directed the collectors to prepare proposals for the KEZs in districts.
The Krishna district administration has developed an efficient system to trace children and elders in case they go missing during the Krishna Pushkarams. The name of every child and elderly person visiting the city for the Pushkarams will be registered and they will be given a bracelet tag made of material which cannot be torn easily.
It will have contact number of Command and Control Centre and the mobile number of the family of the child or elder written on it with indelible ink.
The bracelet tags will be linked to a mobile application developed for the purpose. Some 1500 to 2000 volunteers will be engaged to track the children and elders. Deputed at railway stations, bus stations, information kiosks and pushkar nagars, the volunteers will make the children and elders registered as soon as they arrive in Vijayawada.
Details like name, gender age, contact number parents or guardians will be fed into the mobile application and the data sent to servers in Command and Control Centre.
In case the volunteers find any child or elder missing, using the contact number on the tag, the Command and Control Centre is alerted and the family of the child or elder will be alerted.
Around 10 lakh tags have been prepared.
Vijayawada police explained the traffic restrictions to be imposed in and around Vijayawada city for the coming Pushakalu from August 12 to 23.
There is a long stretch of no vehicle zone from Prakasam Barrage to Panja Center. Only Pedestrians, emergency services and essential commodities vehicles would be allowed here. No other private vehicles would be allowed into the city and all should depend on public transportation system provided by the APSRTC and for some extended on the autorickshaws within the city. The most sufferers of this would be the one town area people.
No-vehicle zone borders are Swathi theatre centre towards the Vijayawada-Hyderabad highway, Pandit Nehru Bus Station junction, statue of Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu near the low bridge, Raghavaiah Park on MG Road and R. R. Apparao street (Andhra Bank street) on BRP Road and Hindu High School centre in Kothapeta
The buses which come from I Town would be allowed up to Kummaripalem (Swathi theatre). Those which come from II Town would be terminated at Pandit Nehru Bus Station.
Also Prakasam Barrage would be closed for all the 12 days. Not even pedestrians will be allowed on the prakasam barrage. Nobody would be allowed on to Prakasam Barrage.
The police explained that they divided the city into 19 zones and 74 sectors for the convenience of the traffic monitoring. They identified 120 parking places in an extent of about 276 acres and could accommodate at least 40,000 vehicles at a time at these parking places.
