Chief Minister today launched the second phase of Runa Mafi in Ongole. As many as 36.39 lakh farmers will benefit with the second phase of the government's Debt Redemption.

CM interacted with farmers on this occasion. CM asked one of the farmer Venkata Narayana Reddy, is he angry on him, as he has waived the loan only upto only 1.5 lakh ? For this, Farmer Venkata Narayana Reddy replied to CM that, he was not angry, indeed he was happy for the 1.5 lakh. He told that, as the state is in financial crunch, CM has done a great job. The classes of JNTU-K Engineering College would start from June 27 at Narasaraopeta. JNTU decided to establish its engineering college at Narasaraopeta and the government sanctioned land for the college. But as the college building construction would take time, the JNTU decided to start the college in private buildings and selected buildings of AM Reddy Engineering College.
The JNTU will start the engineering college with five branches for 300 students and it is searching for buildings to provide hostel facility to the students. The state government gave permission by issuing GO.122 granting permission to establish JNTU engineering college with a budget of Rs.82.20 crore expenditure.

The JNTU engineering college would be established at Kakani near Narasaraopeta. The people's representatives of Guntur district have been requesting the JNTU Engineering College for the past four years and now their efforts became fruitful.

The JNTU team led by Vice-chancellor Prof. V.S.S. Kumar said that the construction of the college building would take a long time, so the classes can be started in private buildings. The team inspected various private buildings and finalised the buildings rooms. Prof. Kumar said that 300 seats are available in CEC, ECE, mechanical, civil and electronics branches of engineering course. He said that the JNTU is searching for hostel accommodation and a team of senior professors led by JNTU-EC principal K.V.S.G. Muralikrishna will visit Narasaraopeta on June 20 to search for hostel facility.

Kanaka Durga Temple Authorities have changed the prasadam that is distributed the devotees. Instead of the laddu and pulihora prasadam, dry fruits prasadam would be distributed to the devotees. 50 grams prasadam is going to cost Rs.15/- and they will not get spoiled upto to three months.

There are complaints with the laddu and pulihora prasadam, is getting dry or spoilt by the time the devotees reach home.

Survey works have been started for Vijayawada City Square, which is going to come up in PWD Grounds. Coastal Land Survey company is taking care of the survey works. The city sqaure is going to come up in 25 acres. With PWD Grounds and Raithu Bazar, below buildings are also going to be removed.

PSLV C-34 rocket lifted off at 9.25 a.m. from the Second Launch Pad in the Satish Dhawan Space Centre. Here are the top 10 facts to know.

  • Third in line after Russia and US, India launched 20 satellites through a single rocket.
  • Till date, only Russia and US have launched multiple satellites at one go. Russia being the highest, having launched 37 satellites, followed by US which has launched 30 satellites.
  • The total weight of all the 20 satellites carried onboard PSLV-C34 is about 1288 kg.
  • The 727.5 kg Cartosat-2 series satellite will provide regular remote sensing services with its panchromatic and multispectral cameras and its imagery will be of multiple use.
  • Of the 19-satellites, 12 are earth imaging "Dove satellites" of USA and another American satellite. The rest are from Canada (two) and one each from Germany and Indonesia.
  • Two academic satellites are from Sathyabama University (Sathyabamasat) in Chennai and from College of Engineering (Swayam) at Pune.
  • With today's launch of 20 satellites, PSLV beat its 2008 record when it placed in orbit 10 satellites in a single launch into various Low Earth Orbits.
  • Till date, India has launched 57 foreign satellites from about 20 countries, earning about $100 million.
  • This is the 14th flight of PSLV in "XL" configuration known for its capacity to carry more load which uses 'solid strap-on motors'.
  • India has 11 operational earth observation satellites, including RESOURCESAT-1 and 2, CARTOSAT-1, 2, 2A, 2B, RISAT-1 and 2, OCEANSAT-2 are in orbit.
