Pride of Andhra Pradesh, Lepakshi, a part of Vijayanagar empire, has highly-appreciated sculptures with the world's biggest Nandi statue, is at a Hope of getting the World Heritage status, to historic Lepakshi temple town in Anantapur district have been revived after the Unesco sought to determine its outstanding universal value (OUV) Responding to repeated representations and efforts by the authorities along with local MILA Namdamuri Balakrishna.

World Heritage director Dr K Lourdusamy asked Archaeological Survey of India officials and superintendent archaeologist of ASI of Hyderabad circle to provide all necessary proposals in prescribed format along with detailed drawings, site plans along with photographs in order to send proposals to Unesco World Heritage Centre for tentative listing.

The five-century-old Lepakshi, a part of Vijayanagar empire, has highly-appreciated sculptures, wall and roof paintings and also With the World's biggest Nandi statue in the competition. Hampi, the main capital of Vijayanagar, has been recongised and work is under progress.

Another university is coming up in East Godavari district in addition to the existing Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada (JNTUK) and Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU). According to sources, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has given its consent for setting up of Logistics University (LU) in East Godavari at a cost of Rs.350 crore.

Plans are a foot to start the university in a private premises in Kakinada from the forth coming academic year. The district administration has identified 100 acres of government land at Chollangi village in Tallarevu mandal and 75 acres at Kesavaram in Mandapeta mandal for construction of the permanent campus of Logistics University.

Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu is likely to take a final decision soon on the location of the university. Kesavaram falls in Mandapeta Assembly constituency, while Chollangicomes under Kakinada Rural Assembly segment. Both the constituencies are represented by Telugu Desam Party MLAs. Construction works will begin once the location of the university is finalised.

According to official sources, the university will offer courses in logistics, shipping, air logistics, transport, Warehousing management and other advanced subjects. B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA and executive courses will be offered from the academic year 2018-19. It will churn out 1,400 professionals a year once the university is fully operational. PhD courses will be offered by the university from 2020.

The UGC will conduct a special entrance test for admission into various courses offered by Logistics University. It was proposed to setup a Petroleum University in the district earlier. But it was shifted to Visakhapatnam later. According to academicians, the setting up of university is highly beneficial to students of coastal districts as logistics sector has immense growth potential.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said it would have cost the government about 40,000 crore if the farmers had not sacrificed their lands for the Amaravati capital. He mentioned about the construction of nine theme cities and 27 townships. Chief Minister layed the foundation stone for seven main roads on the day of Ugadi.

Mr Naidu spoke while making a Powerpoint presentation to MLAs and MLCs on the designs prepared by Norman Foster and Partners for the administrative city at the Assembly committee hall. He said this was for feedback and suggestions.

Infrastructure and investments principal secretary Ajay Jain said the final - designs would be received by April end and construction work would begin in July. He said by December 2018, the construction of iconic buildings would be completed. He said the government had the World's reputed consultants to guide the state government in the construction of the capital.

A Norman Fosters representative gave a presentation on the designs. He explained how the roads, iconic buildings, riverfront beautification, government core buildings and others, particularly greenery maintenance and pollution control, would be. BJP MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju and a few others got their doubts clarified. Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, Council chairman A. Chakrapani, TD MLAs, MLCs along with three YSRC MLAs participated in the presentation.

Like the aqua food park being set up at Tundurru in Bhimavaram, the government has a plan for Nellore where a mega food park at Kothapatnam. The state government has allotted 52 acres of land to the Hyderabad based Nekkanti Mega Food Park Private Limited which would process aqua and agro-based products at the park. The plant is close to the Bay of Bengal.

The park has been cleared under the scheme promoted by the Andhra Pradesh Food Processing Society, which invited investments for food processing infrastructure in the state for setting up mega food parks, integrated mega food parks, cold chains, food processing and collection centers with the financial assistance of the state government.

The state government had identified Nellore and Prakasam districts as potential for aqua-based units for promoting related parks in these districts, No-objection is provided from the local panchayat for taking up the plant and they completed ground-breaking ceremony also.
