The Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation (AMRC) has entered into an agreement With Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), for completion of Vijayawada Metro on term fee basis. According to this agreement, both the corridors have to be completed within 4 years. AMRC will conduct the first trail run of metro rail through Eluru road corridor by February 2019.

As part of the agreement, the DMRC Will design the process of calling for tenders, open tenders, finalization of tenders, award of tenders, supervision of concerned Works, supervision and management of execution of the Works by the contractor, and obtaining safety certification from railway authorities after completion of the works.

Later, the DMRC has to handover the project to AMRC for operation and maintenance, DMRC managing director, business director and AMRC managing director N.P. Ramakrishna Reddy have signed the agreement papers.

The DMRC has planned to construct two corridors in the city at a cost of Rs.6,823 crore, The 26-km metro project is expected to be completed by 2018. As many as 24 stations will come up on the two corridors - Penamaluru to PNBS and Nidamanuru to PNBS.

The DMRC has set the ball rolling for the Vijayawada Metro Project by calling e-tenders in two parts for the PNBS-Nidamanur Corridor in September. The Works include architectural finishing, Water supply, sanitary installation and drainage works. Both the Works are to be completed in 24 months. The metro project was considered keeping in view the potential of the city and likely projected increase in population.

The DMRC authorities are planning to construct the Eluru corridor as it will be connected to the depot at Nidamanuru. The Bandar Road Corridor Will be taken up at a later stage. More so, there are no land acquisition issues on Eluru Road compared to Bandar Road.

An interchange bus station would come up near PNBS. The passengers travelling on Bandar and Eluru Roads can board and alight there to change the train.

prakasam barrage gates opened 31082016

Irrigation officials has opened 16 crest gates of the Prakasam Barrage and released around 11,600 cusecs of water into the sea. At the same time 10,388 cusecs of water is released to the lakes. The inflow is around 19,392 cusecs.

At present, the water level in the Barrage is at 12 feet. Floodwater is expected to rise, as heavy flood is coming from rivulets and streams, upstream. The authorities expected that there will be further increase in flood water, in the coming days.

The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has warned the people living low-lying areas and asked to move to safer places or rehabilitation centres opened by the Corporation.

Doondi Ganesh Seva Samithi which has installed a 63 feet Ganesh Idol last year, is installing a 72-ft eco-friendly ‘Siddhi Buddi Sametha Kailasa Ganapathi’ idol at Ghantasala Music College grounds this year for Vinayaka Chavati.

The idol is being prepared from the last few weeks and it is getting its final touches and would be ready within 2-3 days and would be offered to prayers on September 5th, Vinayaka Chavati Day. Coimbatore-based T Rajendran Artisans’ Group, is doing the works.

Doondi Ganesh Seva Samithi which has installed a 63 feet Tandava Ganesh Idol last year.

The speciality of this idol is, it is eco-friendly and can be self-immersed at the venue itself, without disturbing the environment.

dasara 11 days festival 29082016

Normally we know that, Dasara is celebrated for 9 days. But due to Tithi variation, after three and half decades, this time Dasara festival will be organized for 11 days at Indrakeeladri. The same 11 day festival is organised way back in 1980, also which is the same year incidentally Krishna Pushkaram was held. In the year 1980, Pushkarams were also celebrated for 13 days, instead of 12 days, due to adhika masam.

The festival begins on October 1st. Everyday goddess Kanaka Durga will give darshan in one alankaram. The two extra alankarams are, "Sri Swarna Kavachalankrita Durga Devi" on the first day and "Katyayani Devi" alankaram on the fifth day. The other alankarams include ‘Balatripura Sundari Devi’, ‘Annapoorna Devi’, ‘Gayatri Devi’, ‘Lalita Tripura Sundari Devi’, ‘Saraswati Devi’, ‘Mahalakshmi’, ‘Durga Devi’, ‘Mahishasura Mardhini’, and ‘Rajarajeswari Devi’

Normally Dasara is celebrated for 9 days, and in some cases 10 days. But after a gap of 35 years, now it is celebrated for 11 days. In 2010, a 10 day festival was organized.
