Bid to make Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) self-sustainable, roof top solar panels of 500 KW have been installed on the administrative building of WMC and Council Hall. Minister for municipal administration P. Narayana inaugurated solar power plants at WMC main office. The project was undertaken by a private firm with an estimated amount of Rs.2 crore to provide solar power to the VMC office.

It was estimated that the VMC has been Consuming Rs.28 lakh worth electricity on an average per month in a given year. At present, they installed two 100 KW capacity plants on the VMC main building and on the council hall. The VMC is also planning to install the solar systems at Singh Nagar, head water tank and Ramalingeswara Nagar.

After installing them at all the identified five places, including the VMC main office and the council hall the installed capacity of solar power of the corporation would reach 500 K.W. One 100 KW system can possibly produce 12000 units a month, which makes 60,000 units of total five plants. There is a chance of giving back the excess energy produced to the grid.

National BJP President Amit Shah has called over phone, to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to come and participate in Assam CM Swearing in Ceremony. BJP has won Assam state, in the recent Assembly elections. The BJP coalition has won a comfortable victory with 86 seats in the 126-member Assam Assembly. The famous PWD grounds in Vijayawada, is going to be converted into a new icon "Vijayawada City Square". Chief Minister has approved the design of the Guizhou International Investment Corporation of China.

Vijayawada City Square has many attractions to look at, according the design plan. This is going to be the biggest entertaining spot in the city and a one of the feather in the cap for Amaravati.

• Iconic Pillar: This Iconic pillar would be at the center of the park. which will have Ashoka symbol with four lions

• Musical Fountain and Attractive Lighting: A musical fountain would entertain the visitors, with different kinds of laser lights
• Gaming Zone: Apart from exhibitions, there would be a dedicated gaming zone with all kind of play items, video games, indoor games etc..
• Mini Indoor Stadium: A mini indoor stadium would also come up in this area
• Iconic Building: This iconic building would be a special attraction in the park. It will have restaurants, food courts, rest rooms etc..
• Corporate Offices: A special office would be built with a complete corporate look, which would be rented for various companies for their meetings
• Shopping Zone: A dedicated shopping zone would be come up in a three floor building
• Theme Park: A Theme park would be there throughout the park, and especially while passing through the underground parking
• Swimming Pool: Swimming Pool is an additional attraction
• Underground Parking: There would be no problem for parking space. Underground parking would help not to stall the traffic and allows a free flow of the traffic

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with the Department of Horticulture, government of Andhra Pradesh, has organized the Horticulture Show and Mango Festival 2016. This was inaugurated today by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu

The exhibition would be on from May 23 to 25 at Andhra Loyola College in Vijayawada. The exhibition would be available for visitors from 9.30 Am to 8.00 PM. The entry is free. Over 10,000 products are on display in over 200 stalls.

This exhibition is of first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh
