A farmer from Khammam district in Telangana, who forgot a bag containing Rs 1.30 lakh in an APSRTC bus a week ago, got the money on Saturday, thanks to the honest APSRTC driver, RS Rao.
According to APSRTC regional manager Gnanamgari Shrihari, P Sathibabu, a native of Alubaka villagein Venkatapurammandal of Khammam district, came to Guntur on March 19 and boarded an Amaravati AC bus to leave for Hyderabad, forgetting his bag containing clothes and cash in the bus itself.

While returning to Guntur, bus driver Rao found the bag with cash packed in the clothes and handed it over to the APSRTC officials at Guntur. After finding the lodge receipts and another receipt of chilli market yard containing the address of the farmer, the officials lodged a complaint with the Old Guntur police for taking up inquiry into the matter.

During inquiry, the APSRTC and the police found that the bag belonged to Sathibabu and handed over the same to him on Saturday.

Hailing the honesty of Rao, the regional manager announced a cash reward to the driver.

In a bid to promote tourism sector in the State, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has asked the police department to consider the possibility of granting permissions to shopping malls, food courts and shopping plazas across the State to remain open till 12 in the midnight every day. The Chief Minister held a review meeting with the heads of all 14 departments in the State.

During the meeting, Naidu sought suggestions from the officials on luring the tourists to the State in order to develop the tourism sector.

When officials told Naidu that keeping shopping malls in the State open till late in the night everyday could help develop tourism sector in the State, the Chief Minister asked the police officials to explore the possibility.

Telugu Desam national secretary Nara Lokesh is planning to change the Telugu Desam district office at Guntur into Telugu Desam AP state office and is likely to announce the decision on the occasion of Telugu New Year Ugadi.

Mr Lokesh visited NTR Bhavan, which is TD district office at Arundalpeta in Guntur. They inspected the building, enquired about the land and conducted a meeting with the TD leaders. According to the TD sources, the availability of huge chunk of land and easy transportation from Krishna. Guntur, Prakasam and other districts was considered to turn the Guntur TD office into AP state office.

The process of changing may start on Ugadi.

A majority of the legislators including ministers P. Pulla Rao and R. Kishorebabu are seeking TD state party office at Guntur. Narasaraopeta MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, TD Guntur committee president and Vinukonda MLA G.V. Anjaneyulu and AP Women Commission chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari also sought TD state office at Guntur.

Very Soon, every nook and corner of Guntur city would come under the CC camera surveillance. The Guntur Urban Police are expediting the installation of CC cameras at all junctions. The Vijayawada-based Apple Vision has been roped into install the cameras and interlink them to the Control Room situated on the second floor of the Guntur Urban SP's office. Efforts are on to complete the works at the earliest.

According to the Guntur West DSP KGV Sarita, who is the nodal officer for CC camera surveillance project, as many as 2,164 CC cameras are being installed under the purview of Guntur Urban Police district. While the police will install 100 cameras at strategic locations, the business and commercial establishments would chip in and account for the remaining cameras. All these cameras would be linked to the fiber optic cables provided for free by the Apple Vision.

Sofar the installation of 1,878 cameras have been completed and the officials are working towards installing the remaining. East and West Sub-Divisions will have 383 and 930 cameras respectively. While, North Sub-Division will have 742 cameras, the South will have 109.

3 megapixel and 4 mega pixel cameras are used and they are capable of tracking vehicle registration numbers even during the night.
