Muslims representing Majid-e-Abubakar offered Friday Prayers on the road under construction as a protest, at Abubakar Masjid, which is proposed to be removed, at Ramavarappadu in Vijayawada.

Meanwhile Krishna District Collector Mr.Babu A said that alternatives are provided for the houses, masjid and temple at Ramvarappadu, which are required to be demolished to pave way for Inner Ring Road. Mr.Babu said that "all the structures, are encroachments on the canal Bund. Locals have to understand, as an alternative land of 5 cents against 3 cents of are in which masjid is currently present has been allotted for it at Ramvarappadu. The government also would give cost of construction and the families would be given land in Jakkampudi.

Marking the 5th anniversary celebrations of L.V. Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) at Tadigadapa, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched the Andhra Pradesh Eye Banking Initiative and inaugurated the Tej Kohli Eye Bank. The goal of this initiative is to make Andhra Pradesh free from Corneal Blindness by the year 2025. The Tej Kohli Eye Bank in Vijayawada is the fourth in LVPEI’s network of eye banks. Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu, Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas and other leaders participated in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, “Doing business in Singapore appears to be cost-effective than in Vijayawada and Guntur due to the land value inflation. Historically, land has been costly in Vijayawada. But if this trend continues, investments will not come. It has to be kept in mind that not many industries have moved to Vijayawada. Amaravati is poised to become one of the world’s best cities. Entrepreneurs from the region no longer need to look beyond the emerging capital city. However, the land issue has to be sorted out to enable them to play a catalytic role in development”, Mr. Naidu said, adding “land values had become a problem for me too as I look to develop Amaravati into a world-class city”

After a mega project in health sector by British firm and AIIMS in Mangalagiri, Yet an another world class medical university is going to set up in Amaravati, the new Capital region of Andhra Pradesh. Amrita University, run by Mata Amritanandamayi Trust, has come forward to set up. Along with university, the trust will also set up a 2250 bedded “multi super specialty” hospital, research and healthcare complex. Delegates of Mata Amritanandamayi Institute of Medical Sciences met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada and discussed the proposal.

Vijayawada City is eyeing the top 10 ranks in Swachh Survekshan awards. As per plans, Vijayawada city may get a better rank in next year’s swachh awards due to the ongoing development works in the city.

Already the city has got 23rd rank for beautification and road expansion works. Several development words are under progress and some other works will start soon. The local authorities and officials hope that city will be in top 10 cities for next year.

Several developmental plans have been proposed for city development. Already eight roads are being renovated in the city with full greenery, expansion of road area, central dividers, lighting and walking tracks.

Presently only two roads are completed and remaining roads are under progress. Besides works are being on progress at Durga Flyover and Benz Circle Flyover is going to start shortly. The works including road expansion from Benz Circle to Machilipatnam will be initiated shortly. The majority of traffic problems will be solved after these projects completed.

Aslo government has plans to shift encroachments from canal bunds. The entire canal bunds will be developed as parks and greenery hubs. Besides already navigation is proposed in canals and it may be reality in the near future. The citizens will get respite from major drainage problem when city has already got a nod from central government for establishing storm water drainage project.
