The Government of Andhra Pradesh and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will work together on a Knowledge Economic Zone to be established in Amaravati, the new Capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The KEZ will begin operations from June 2016. The first phase of KEZ will be ready by 2017 in the area of 10 acres. By 2019 the KEZ will spread to 100 acres. The government proposes to take the help of World Economic Forum and Harvard University in grounding the KEZ.

A knowledge driven economy is one in which the generation and use of knowledge will come to play a major part in the creation of wealth.

The members of JICA (Japan International Agency) delegation, led by Yasunori Takahashi reviewed the alignment and plans for Vijayawada metro rail works in Vijayawada. The delegation held discussions with the officials of metro rail and inspected the proposed metro route in various areas of city.

JICA has shown interest to be part of the metro rail project by investing funds. But the 15 members delegation is learned to have asked the government to give them 15 months’ time for studying the project and also completing the fund allocation process. But our officials have asked to complete the study in 6 months and JICA team has accepted the request.

JICA is ready to provide Rs.4000 crore as loan, of the total project cost of Rs.6000 crore. The state and central governments would invest Rs.1200 crore each as 20% share in the project.

CBR Sports Academy which is known for promoting sports, has come with up tennis facility on its premises at Kethanakonda, which is situated 20 km from Vijayawada. The academy is spread over 80 acres of land in Ketanakonda, where it has a 400m track and a swimming pool and facilities of other games training.

On about area of 3200 square yards four clay courts have been laid. All the specifications are met as per the standards of International Tennis Federation (ITF). Also works are going on for other facilities like an administration building, gymnasium, gallery and change rooms.
