The State and the Central governments are establishing a mud crab and seabass hatchery with international standards at Adavi village in Guntur district. This project is to come with Rs.20 crore, in ten acres land at Suryalanka. The hatchery can supply quality fish and mud crab seed to about 7,000 hectares.

Farmers now are importing mud crab seed from Tamil Nadu. They are spending huge amount, but most of them seed die in transportation. Once the new hatchery at Suryalanka is completed, farmers can get fine quality seed at lesser price with minimum transportation cost. It can boost production and set up exports.

The project is being set up jointly by Fisheries Department, National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) and Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aquaculture (RGCA), a research wing of MPEDA.

Vijayawada city is slowly getting metro culture, with the proposed new capital Amaravati. Vijayawada Hotel Owners Association, requested Vijayawada Police Commissioner Gowtham Sawang to give permission to run the hotels till 12 midnight. Commissioner has accepted the request, but asked hotel owners to take adequate security measures and install CC Cameras. Presently the hotels should close by 10.30 AM. With the new instructions, hotels can remain open till midnight.

The three night food courts in Municipal Stadium, Benz Circle and near Government Music College on BRTS Road are helping the citizens in late night. While hot food is served to customers at these road side shops, there are no facilities for them to sit and have a leisurely meal. Extending of closing time of the hotels, will improve the night life in the city.

MADA - Machilipatnam Area Development Authority, was constituted by Andhra Pradesh Government. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department issued an order No. 15, constituting Machilipatnam Area Development Authority (MADA) with jurisdiction of 426.16 square kilometers under Andhra Pradesh Urban Areas (Development) Act 1975.

The head quarters of MADA will be at Machilipatnam. MADA covers over 426.16 square kilometres which includes, Machilipatnam Municipal Corporation, 28 Revenue villages, 27 villages of Machilipatnam mandal and one village in Pedana mandal. The total population under MADA is nearly 2,41,207.

The MADA will consist of eight members from the State Government. Principal Secretary/Secretary to Government dealing with Municipal Administration and Urban Development will be its Chairman.

A major fire accident took place near "Flower Market" in One Town area, Vijayawada. A woman Rajakumari, suffered serious burns and died. More than 100 huts are burnt completely. The fire also entered "Flower Market" and some of the shops are also burnt completely. Two fire tenders have controlled the fire. Collector and Municipal Commissioner reviewed the situation. MLA Jaleel Khan, Minsisters Devineni Uma and Narayana also visited and conveyed the victims the government would help. The cause of fire is not known yet.
