Gandhi Shilp Bazaar - 2016, Handicrafts and Artistic Textiles Exhibition and Sale is Started at Siddhartha Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, at Polyclinic Road. Krishna District Collector Mr.Babu A, has inaugurated the exhibition. Handicrafts Government of India and State Handicrafts Development Forum and collectively organizing the expo. The exhibits includes art materials, store arts, printed textiles, paintings, leather items, bangles, leather chappals, embroidery, flower decorative items, fiber products, etc...

The exhibition will be from January 29th to February 7th, and visitors can visit between 11.00 AM to 9.00 PM

martyrs day vijayawada 30012016

All the Traffic is stopped on Vijayawada Roads from 11.00 AM to 11.02 AM on the eve of Martyr's Day. All the traffic moment has been stopped, as per the central government order. A two-minute silence has be observed across the state on the occasion of Martyrs' Day. All-India radio has also suspended broadcast for two minutes. Trains scheduled for departure at 11 AM has be detained for two minutes at their respective stations. The same is case with flights and ships. Many schools and colleges, offices also have maintained the two minutes silence.

Every year, homage is paid to Martyrs who laid down their lives in India's freedom struggle by observing two minute silence on January 30.

Nagyalanka whale skeleton 1

A massive 30 feet whale skeleton is found at Nagayalanka village in Krishna district, last week.  The skeleton of the sperm whale is being conserved by local people. Plans are there to preserve the skeleton at Marine Park at Koringa Wildlife Sanctuary in East Godavari district. The skeleton is kept on display on the left bank of river Krishna. An enclosure was arranged by the local youth, around the skeleton. At least 5,000 visitors are coming everyday to see the 30-feet skeleton of the sperm whale which is on display. Most school children in and around Nagayalanka village are visiting.

The wildlife authorities lauded the efforts of local youth in preserving the skeleton. The skeleton being preserved will be kept for display until the wildlife authorities shift it to the sanctuary.

Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada has organized "Loyola Run for Amaravati", a 3K run. Vijayawada Police Commissioner D.Gautam Sawang flagged of the run. Almost 4000 students participated in the run. Students have used 13 different colors of caps, to represent 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh. Before the run, students gathered in the college ground and form a human chain in the shape of Andhra Pradesh Map. Later the run was marched from Loyola College, Vinayak Theater, ESI Hospital Road, Service Road, Central Excise Colony, back to college

Addressing the gathering of students, Mr.Sawang said that students are builders of nation as well as Amaravati. Mr.Sawang, also told he is an alumni of Loyola Chennai and Loyola students are known for discipline and hard work.

The Andhra Loyola College Alumni Association (ALCAA) director Fr.Rex Angelo said that faculty of Andhra Loyola College has donate Rs.40,00,116/- for "My Brick - My Amaravati"

The construction of Benz Circle flyover proposed between Skew Bridge and Nirmala Convent School and also the highway extension works from Vijayawada to Machilipatnam is all set to take off shortly. The road from Vijayawada to Machilipatnam is going to be widened into six lane. Both the projects tender is given to DIB Company of Madhya Pradesh. The tender is finalized in Delhi yesterday for 925 crores.

As many as 60,000 vehicles pass through Benz Circle every day. This is the is converging point of the national highways 16 and 65. Benz Circle is known for traffic snarls after the Indrakeeladri ghat road in the city.
