Citizens in Vijayawada have geared up to welcome the New Year in a big way. Police have eased restrictions, including increasing the time for late night parties from 10pm to 1am. Citizens are looking for suitable places to ring in the New Year with rejuvenated energy.

The city hotels and various entertainment zones also geared up to entertain their guests in a memorable way. They have come up with various themes to attract youngsters and families. Also many of the apartments, colonies, communities are also getting ready for the New Year eve.

Hotels like Gateway, Fortune Murali, DV Manor, Innotel etc.. has announced special packages to celebrate the event. Resorts like Haailand have roped Music Director Thaman to perform.

The other food points, sweet shops, biryani points have come up with special offers on cakes, drinks, sweets and other food items.

New Year Events in Vijayawada - 2016

Swedish bus maker, Scania Commercial Vehicles India (SCVI), has delivered new buses to APSRTC. To Promote Amaravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, these high-end buses are name after "Amaravati" by Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC). APSRTC have ordered 40 new Scania Buses, two months back. Around 6 buses has reached Vijayawada Garage and remaining buses are expected to reach within a weeks’ time. All these buses would be inaugurated by Chief Minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu. These buses are scheduled to run to Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and other major cities.

The buses are packed with uncompromised safety features such as Fleet Management System (FMS), fire detection and suppression system, speed limit compliant to state regulations, six emergency exits with twelve hammers, emergency doors.

Launched in February 2013, the Scania Metrolink range introduced the multi-purpose coaches for medium and long distance travel in the Indian market. The buses are already present in states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala, and have received warm response from customers and passengers, states the company.

Amaravati, the heart of the Sunrise State of Andhra Pradesh has seen rapid changes in 2015. After bifurcation Andhra Pradesh does not even have a capital and also it is a Revenue deficit state, with many infrastructure challenges. But every Andhraite hopes have been raised, after Amaravati is declared as a capital. All the 13 districts citizens have got the feeling that Amaravati is their future, their dream capital. Fortunately Government steps have also raised the expectations.

The foundation for Amaravati has been laid this year and we started our long journey. We have showcased our Amaravati, to the entire world in a grand way this year, through various activities, mainly foundation laying ceremony. Many State level review meetings, cinema promotions, fashion life style, night life, metro life, everything slowly started in Vijayawada and Guntur. Many of the well-known investors have landed in our Gannavaram and visited Amaravati, Vijayawada, Guntur and shown their interest in developing Amaravati. A clear cut difference between the past and future is visible in this year 2015. Thanks to all the farmers, who has given their lands for Andhra's dream capital Amaravati.

ACT Broadband has launched 40 MBPS Internet services from today in Vijayawada and Eluru. The 40 MBPS would cost Rs.1499/- per month and the download limit is 100 GB and 512 kbps post FUP speed. The same services are also soon brought to Guntur and other Tier-II cities in the state
