Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday announced the rankings for the districts. Speaking at the collectors' conference on the second day, Chief Minister said that the ranks were given basing on the growth rate.

Visakhapatnam secured the first place followed by Krishna. The other districts include West Godavari, Nellore, Guntur, Prakasam and East Godavari, respectively. They were followed by four Rayalaseema districts Chittoor, Kadapa, Anantapur and Kurnool. Despite Visakhapatnam topping the list, the other north-coastal districts, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam remained at the bottom.

Indian army's surgical strikes across the Line of Control against terrorists prepping for attacks in India were conducted after midnight on Wednesday and went on till 4.30 am

1. The strikes were conducted upto two km in Pakistani territory, army sources have said.
2. Eight terrorist launch pads were targeted across different sectors. These camps had been under surveillance for about a week.
3. The army said there were "massive casualties of terrorists, their guides and handlers." Sources say India has evidence of damage inflicted, which will be released when appropriate.
4. "Our forces have gone deep in and come back before sunrise," government sources said.
5. A combination of ground forces and helicopter-borne troops were involved in the strikes.
6. According to the army, the terrorists were planning major attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and in metros.
7. All forces along the Line of Control including the Indian Air Force have been kept on high alert.
8. Villages near the border in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab are being vacated as a precaution.
9. Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Chief Ministers and senior political leaders and briefed them on the strikes.
10. The government has informed the President, Vice President and former prime minister Manmohan Singh about the surgical strikes.

Indian Army conducted surgical strikes on terror launch pads at the Line of Control. Army conducted strikes to prevent Pakistani terrorists who had "positioned themselves at launch pads with the aim to carry out strikes in Jammu and Kashmir and other metros. 6 terror camps are destroyed in this attack.

"A surgical strike is a military attack which results in, was intended to result in, or is claimed to have resulted in only damage to the intended legitimate military target, and no or minimal collateral damage to surrounding structures, vehicles, buildings, or the general public infrastructure and utilities."

The Pakistani Army has also admitted that two of its soldiers were killed in an exchange of fire with Indian forces across the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir today.
