The lifeline of Andhra Pradesh and the dream for years, POLAVARAM, has crossed the hurdles of financial crunch. National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has come forward to fund the whole project of Polavaram. Nabard and Polavaram National Authority has come into an MoU today.

As per the plan, the Nabard will tie-up with two or three foreign investment banks to provide 100% cost of the project that would provide irrigation to 7.2 lakh acres in West, East Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts. With this, doubts over the quantum and timeline of the financial assistance by the Centre have been cleared. The Centre has agreed to provide 100% cost of the irrigation project and this would include revised cost of relief and rehabilitation.

The total cost of the project as per 2011 rates was Rs 16,010.45 crore, and was approved by the Centre and an expenditure of Rs 5,135.87 crore had been incurred up to March, 2014, including central assistance of Rs 562.47 crore.

The Nabard will start releasing its first instalment of funds to the AP government on October 15th.

tirumala new green projects 25092016

Tirumala is all set to get a modern facelift shortly, Electrical buses, LED lighting system, advanced sewage treatment plants, solid waste management system, and giant RO water purifiers will change the existing environment at the holy hill station of Tirumala.

Under the CSR activities, the Coal India and ONGC will take over the construction of the new sewage treatment plant proposed by TTD with the capacity of 5.5 mld (million litres per day) and also construct another sewage treatment plant with am equal capacity, which increases the total capacity to 11.1 mld and thus, meet the pilgrim population in Tirumala. Total cost of these two plants would be Rs.6 crore

TTD is paying to APSPDCL for halogen street lights to Tirumala alone Rs.1.2 crore per month, it will triple during Brahmotsavams and festival days. All these street lights will be replaced with LED street lights to reduce the radiation and warmth and also ensure eco-friendly energy conservation initiatives. For this Coal India and ONGC will spend Rs.5.5 crore

Using strictly human friendly and modern equipment, the entire solid waste management system will betaken up under a new scheme at a cost of Rs.1.5 crore, for transportation, collection, placement of bins and other ultra-modern equipment to dispose the waste.

With the donation from the PSUs and expert help of Wegheshna Foundation, the entire Tirumala which has small and medium RO plants including Tirupati, will now have 20 huge RO plants at strategic locations in Tirumala to supply pure drinking water. Each unit will be established at a cost of Rs.10 lakh, with a total expenditure of Rs.2 crore

In place of fuel (petrol/diesel) buses, six electrical buses also will be operated in Tirumala to transport pilgrims at free of cost round the clock.

Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam - Kanaka Durga temple, has got a huge donation from a Vizag devotee, who don’t want to disclose his name. He has donated ornaments and gold plating worth Rs.one crore to the temple.

The temple got a new look with gold plating (bronze sheets decorated with gold covering) mukha dwaaram ahead of the Navarathri festival and the devotees were surprised with the new look on Sunday.

The gold plates to the doors and walls were made in Tamil Nadu. The idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Saraswathi, which were earlier covered with silver plating, have also been covered with gold plating.

The idol of Goddess Lakshmi at the main door and some other idols were also gold plated. The devotee also donated Panchaloha idols of Ganga, Parvathi and Malle SWara Swamywarlu and 11 silk sarees for Dasara festivities.

The temple has gold ornaments and jewellery weighing more than 55 kg. A gold veena of 2 kg weight presented by industrialists Kankanala Ramesh and Koganti Satyam is being used for Saraswati Alankaram on Moola Nakshatram during Dasara.

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is going to set up its office in Vijayawada. In the meeting held at Mumbai, the decision has been taken to set up an office in Andhra Pradesh at Vijaywada. As Vijayawada is being the acting capital, SEBI has taken this decision. As per sources, the stock market customer base in the bifurcated Andhra Pradesh is over 10 lakh.

Also various other Central government entities like RBI and Nabard are also going to soon set their offices in Amaravti region.
