Today, February 17th at 8.23 AM, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is going to lay foundation stone for temporary capital at Velagapudi village in Guntur district. The construction should be completed before June 15. This is going to be the first construction in the new capital Amaravati.
Construction majors L&T and Shapoorji Pallonji were said to have agreed to a price of Rs. 3,350 per square feet offered by the Andhra Pradesh government for constructing the Interim Government Complex at Velagapudi village. The government will spend Rs. 201 crore on construction of the secretariat that will come up in 45.129 acres in six blocks. The office of the CM and legislative assembly would also be located on the premises. The built up area would be 58,655.43 sq metres of which 23,587 sq metres would be left for greenery. The buildings will have solar panels on the roofs. There will be enough parking space for employees as well as the visitors, an official press release said.
Later this will be used for commercial purpose on completion of permanent capital. The firms were asked to complete the construction before June 15. The companies would have to execute the work in three shifts a day to meet the deadline
