The 2,000 year old Buddhist rockcut caves at Seetanagaram on the right bank of the River Krishna and next to the Prakasam Barrage. The caves are dated to be of Satavahana era in around 1st and 2nd century AD. The structure has one cell with a rock-cut bed ante-chamber and another cell on the left. The caves are not under maintenance and nothing is in order. The caves are full of anthills, bats and thorny overgrowth. Locals are urging archeology department to preserve the caves.

The suburbs of Vijayawada have many rock cut caves affiliated with Buddhism and date back to 1st and 2nd centuries AD. The activity was continued during the 4th or 5th centuries AD as noticed at Akkanna Madanna caves, Mogalrajpuram caves and Undavalli caves

According to archaeologists, the Akkanna Madanna caves, excavated at the foot of the Indrakiladri Hill that are carved with horned dwarapas, date back to 4th century AD and is affiliated to the early Pallavas. The series of five cave temples at Mogalrajpuram were carved with figures of the Nataraja, Durga and Ganesha during 5th Century AD.

Inner Ring Road (IRR) Project works of Vijayawada are going on war footing basis. The works are also going on at night. The project is targeted to complete before Krishna Puskharams. 750-metre-long flyover with four lanes at Ramavarappadu is completed. The road construction and divider words at the place where the inner ring road meets NH5, near Subham Kalyanamandapam is going on a brisk pace. The flyover at Gunadala has been complete long time back.

The inner road starts from Gollapudi, where the vehicles proceeding towards Visakhapatnam and Kolkata from Hyderabad could be diverted through the IRR without entering the city, at Gollapudi ‘Y’ junction and proceed through the Milk Powder Factory, Ajithsingh Nagar, Gunadala and reach Subam function hall on Ramavarappadu Ring Road and meet NH5. This will ease the heavy traffic at peak hours, at the main stretches at Kummaripalem, Krishna Lanka and Benz Circle

The total cost of the Inner Ring Road (IRR) Project, including that of flyover is estimated at Rs. 119 crore.  RSV Constructions Private Limited is doing this prestigious project.

Indoor Shuttle and Badminton Stadium is Opened at Gannavaram by MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi. The Indoor Stadium is constructed at Chintalapeta in Gannavaram. It is built with a cost of 32 lakhs and it is maintained by KVR Sports and Games Association.

KVR Kishore Babu, president of KVR Sports and Games Association, said that the wood used for the shuttle court is of Malaysia Beach Wood and players can play long time on the court comfortably.

People can take membership and play shuttle/badminton here at any time. Also, the organizers are planning to give coaching to young students, who are interested to learn shuttle/Badminton.

kondapalli development 13022016

The Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 10.9 crore, to develop Kondapalli Fort in Krishna district. Government has earlier instructed the officials to develop Kondapalli Fort in the lines of Golconda Fort and make it one of the top tourist destinations in the State. As the first phase of the project, government has released the initial funds.

As a part of Comprehensive Development of Kondapalli Fort Project (CDKFP), the works would start. Initially officials have decided to increase greenery, beautification of surroundings, laying of approach road to the fort and accommodation facilities for the tourists.

According to the Detailed Project Report (DPR) submitted by State Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, a ropeway project has been proposed at the site.

The Andhra Pradesh State government’s Groundwater Department has conducted a two-day international seminar on ‘conjunctive uses of surface and groundwater in major and medium irrigation projects’ on February 11th and 12th at PB Siddhartha Arts & Science College in Vijayawada.

Experts from Pune-based International Water Management Institute, International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics and World Bank has share their expertise. The experts from various national research institutes, Central Groundwater Board, Central Water Commission, National Institute of Hydrology and National Remote Sensing Agency have participated in the seminar.

Around 749 delegates from 12 states, have participated in the seminar and shared their experiences. Engineering Students have showcased models of various innovative projects, which can save groundwater and increase the groundwater levels.

Irrigation Minister Devineni Uma and Agriculture Minister Prattipati Pullarao also participated in the two day seminar.
